‘Governor made me PDP Chairman,’ Ali Modu Sheriff says

Sheriff made the disclosure in Ekiti after meeting with Fayose and other members of the party on Thursday, March 17, 2016.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairman, Ali Modu Sheriffhas said that he got into the position because of Ekiti State GovernorAyo Fayose.

Sheriff made the disclosure in Ekiti after meeting with Fayose and other members of the party on Thursday, March 17, 2016, Punch reports.
“I never planned to be the PDP Chairman but God used people like Fayose and other Nigerians to make me the chairman (of the party),” Sheriff said.
“I was sleeping in my room when Fayose called me from Port Harcourt and said I was going to be the new National Chairman. For me, it was a miracle.
“God chose Fayose for Ekiti people because of his popularity in the state. He was taken to the prison and eight years after, he came back. People won’t be happy with the governor if he has not been fair to them," he added.
Sheriff’s emergence as PDP chairman has led to dissatisfaction among members due to his alleged connection with Boko Haram.

‘President needs our help to build a new Nigeria,’ Igbokwe says

Igbokwe made the call on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 via an article titled, “Wanted: Real men and women to help Nigeria.”

The Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress(APC) in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe, has urged Nigerians to support President Muhammadu Buhari’s attempts to build a new Nigeria.

Igbokwe made the call on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 via an article titled, “Wanted: Real men and women to help Nigeria.”
The article, which was published on online news platform, Sahara Reporters, reads:
“President Buhari needs our help to build a new Nigeria. I want committed, decent, honest men and women of deep character to stand up for Nigeria. I know millions of Nigerians out there are silently praying for this President to succeed.”
“I want this men and women to rise up for a change. Leaders of the PDP and their cronies have amassed enough wealth in the past 16 years and they can use this to bring down the system if we permit it. We sleep all the time but the looters are awake every hour.”
“They need to be defeated and crushed. They are fighting in our various courts, they are fighting in the National Assembly, they are fighting in the local governments and the markets. Corruption must not defeat President Buhari. He loves Nigeria. He is honest and has integrity.”
“After nine months, my eyes have seen a lot and my ears have heard enough to believe that leaders of the PDP have no conscience. It was a big scramble for the leaders of PDP to take everything within their reach. They stole dollars and naira in billions and trillions.”
“No wonder nothing is left to even pay the salaries of workers. I did not see any road project in Nigeria in 16 years. There was no serious investment in modern infrastructure – good roads, bridges, resorts and high-speed rail projects. There was no serious investment in security, education, health, agriculture, transportation, human resources etc. It has been a case of looters take it all.”
Buhari has repeatedly vowed that his government would not spare persons found guilty of corrupt practices.

Former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi also said that he hates violence and that his followers aren't allowed to own guns.

Amaechi also said that he hates violence and that his followers aren't allowed to own guns.
The former governor, and current Minister of Transportation, made the comments on Wednesday, March 16, 2016, during an interview on Channels TV.
“I wish you knew me very well, I hate violence. One thing I fear about life is that it is irreplaceable, so one thing you must do if you follow me is that you must not own a gun, you must not own a machete except for purpose of agriculture, and you must not own a knife. So you can’t work with me and carry weapon,”Amaechi said.
“Don’t forget, when I was governor, over 100 persons were killed in the 2015 election and we named them. There is a book written on that; we named them, their families and locations. Are you now saying that as governor I couldn’t have brought out money for my people to buy weapons?”
“Those who follow me directly carry weapons, those are my security. But if you talk about followership in terms of politics, yes, one qualification you will have is that you must be God-fearing; you have no business being with me if you are not God-fearing,” he added.
When asked if all members of the APC are God-fearing, Amaechi said: “You must be God-fearing to be in the APC.”
“Of course I say that. You must be God-fearing… being God-fearing does not mean you won’t commit sin, but it means you have a limit to which you can do things. For instance, you know the consequences of death,” he added.
Amaechi is currently locked in a war of words with incumbent governor, Nyesom Wike over the March 19 State and National Assembly rerun elections in the state.
